Question
What was the clients’ question
Fouling of reversed osmosis (RO) membranes is always a hot topic. The fouling impacts negatively on e.g. energy consumption, cleaning frequency, lifetime and security of supply. So controlling fouling in a sustainable way is the issue at hand.
Solution
What we have done for the waste water
Evides Industrial water has had a study conducted on the sewage issues in the port area. In the research, the former and future waste water supply was inventoried.
An analysis of the results showed that installation of sewage and a joint waste water purification (AWZI) would be beneficial to all parties involved.
Based on these data, we have realised this and are thus fully responsible for the management, maintenance and investments.
Result
What was the result
Sewage towards local purification implies savings relative to transport towards outside the region. The companies can refrain from investments in own purification and the outsource the purification to a third party.
The final effluent is suitable for discharge in the Westerschelde. In the future there will be a possibility to reuse this effluent to reuse as industrial water or agricultural water. As a result, we contribute to the sustainability of the water chain.
